November Favorites

Hey guys! Can you believe it’s December already!?? Where has the time gone? I swear this year has gone by in the blink of an eye, but it’s been a great year for me & my family. I know that I’ve skipped a few months but I’ve rounded up my November favorites. Let’s see which products made the list!

First up is the Too Faced Mascara Melt Off. I received it in my first Glossy Box and completely forgot about it. The first time I used it I was wearing The Waterproof version of Better Than Sex by Too Faced which can be kind of hard to remove, depending on what you use. But, it came right off with the Melt Off remover. I didn’t have to wipe my eyes continuously or wash my face more than once. You can check out my initial post from when I first got it here.Too Faced, Mascara Melt Off, Too Faced Cosmetics, Mascara

The next thing that easily secured a spot on my favorites list is the Neutrogena Shine Control Primer. I’m always on the lookout for anything that will help control and minimize oil & shine. I came across this primer while I was doing a little online shopping and figured I’d give it a try. Instant favorite!! I don’t use it as an all over primer, just in the spots that get oily. It has rice protein complex which really works to absorb oil and it’s long-lasting. I use it even when I’m not wearing makeup.Neutrogena Shine Control, Neutrogena, Primer, Neutrogena Cosmetics

I’ve also been using the Defense Refresh Setting Mist w/SPF 50 from Supergoop. It’s a 3 in 1 mist with a matte finish, it sets your makeup, controls oil & it has UV protection.  I only use it when I’m wearing makeup but combined with the primer from Neutrogena, oil & shine have absolutely no chance! I love the way it smells too, it contains mint & rosemary so there’s a light, refreshing scent. This was in my August allure Beauty Box.Supergoop, Setting Mist, Mattifying Setting Mist

Another little jewel that I got from GlossyBox is MTJ Cosmetics High Definition Mascara. I had been using this on and off since I got it back in September but just recently started using it regularly. It really lengthens and darkens my lashes. I don’t know about you guys, but I love my lashes to be the blackest of black lol! This mascara does it.  It doesn’t clump and I don’t even have to use the eyelash curler, it’s that good. It lengthens, curls and blackens those lashes honey…love it!!MTJ High Definition Mascara, MTJ, High Definition Mascara

Since all the light brown highlight has grown out of my hair, I stopped using dark brown brow color and started using black again. I bought several different brow products because a girls gotta have options, but the first one I got and the only one I’ve been using is Colour Pop’s “Jet Set Black” Creme Gel Brow Color. I love it because it’s easy to work with, it has a really smooth application and it’s long-lasting. Besides that, it’s only $6.  You seriously can’t go wrong with Colour Pop.

One of the brands that I’m loving right now is IT Cosmetics. I recently purchased quite a few of their products from Ulta. I love everything that I bought but what I love the most is the Color Correcting Full Coverage + Anti-Aging Serum CC Cream. I honestly don’t know what made me pick it up, I think I was just on a roll grabbing IT products lol! I’m glad I grabbed it though. At first, I felt like it was too heavy but after using it a few times I was able to work with it. It looks very natural and blends out seamlessly. IT Cosmetics, CC Cream, Anti-Aging Serum

Moving closer to the top of my list we have a blush from Wet n Wild. I was pleasantly surprised with their Color Icon Blush. It was one of those things I bought “just because”. I was in Five Below and couldn’t resist going over to check out the budget friendly cosmetics. I picked up the color Apri-cot in the Middle. It’s so pigmented, I wasn’t expecting that at all! It’s light weight and has the perfect amount of sheen. I absolutely love the color! It’s an everyday wear for me.  If you didn’t know…Wet n Wild is doing their thing!Wet n Wild, Wet n Wild Blush, Coloricon Blush, Apri-cot in the middle, Cruelty-free Blush

Of course I had to save the best for last! Let me just tell you about these Tarteist PRO cruelty-free Lashes…hands down the BEST lashes! First off, their cruelty-free and you’ve gotta love that. Secondly, they’re GORGEOUS!! Now, I’m not a huge lash person so I really don’t like to spend a lot of money on them or even spend too much time looking at any but for some reason these caught my eye the minute they came out. The first pair I bought were the more natural looking ones in the style “Little Black Dress”. I usually struggle to put lashes on(please don’t judge me), but these went on effortlessly and they looked amazing. I swear they are everything I’ve ever wanted in false lashes. Which is precisely why I ordered a second pair, this time I got them in the style “Flirt”. These are more for lengthening. I just love them!  Seriously the best final touch to any look and they’re perfectly priced at just $12!!

That’s everything I wanted to share from November. I hoped you enjoyed. Tell me what your favorites were from last month, I’d love to know. Anything from my list?

Fall Glam

Have I mentioned how much I love this season? Fall colors, Fall makeup looks, Fall fashion trends…Starbucks during the Fall!!! Of course I had to do a little shopping to stock up on some of the beautiful Fall inspired makeup that had been catching my eye. I’ve been obsessed with cream eyeshadows lately and being that I already have a collection of the Revlon Illuminance Creme shadows, I figured I might as well add to it with two of the palettes I didn’t have…”Moonlit Jewels” & “Not Just Nudes“. I love these shadows! The colors are beautiful and they’re super creamy and easy to apply and blend. These have been my go-to palettes for the past few months.

Everyone knows that liquid lipsticks are my absolute favorite, I just cannot resist them! I went ahead and ordered the Hydra Matte-Liquid Lipstick from Gerard Cosmetics in the color “Ruby Slipper”. This is one of my favorites for sure! It’s so pretty, it has flakes of glitter that add just the right amount of sparkle and when the light hits it just right, it is gorgeous! I love the fact that it’s not at all drying like some matte lipsticks are. Another plus, it lasts all day through whatever. I plan on ordering a few of the other shades.

To further indulge in my obsession with liquid lipsticks, I ordered the Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme in “Covet” and the Amore Matte Metallic Lip Creme in “Pretty Problematic”.  I ordered them from the Milani website but their products are pretty much in every store.

I wanted to switch it up a little so I picked up one of the Color Statement Lipsticks from Milani in the shade ” Ruby Valentine” & one of the Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipsticks in the shade “Matte Love”.  In case it isn’t obvious, I’m really into deep reds, burgundy and berry colors.

Last but not least, I wanted to try something new so while I was in the dollar store I picked up this Perfect Tone Lip Gloss from Black Radiance Cosmetics in the color “Deeper the Berry”. I’m not a huge fan of lip gloss but I like the color and it’s very moisturizing so I don’t even need to carry chapstick with me when I wear this.

I hope everyone has a great week, thanks so much for stopping by!

July/August Favorites (late post)

I was so busy during July and last month with moving and starting school that I didn’t get a chance to share my monthly favorites. So, I’m going to do that now, better late than never I guess. I’ve mentioned a few of these products before so I’ll start with those and add the link so you can go back and check out the posts I mentioned them in…if you like.

  1. Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadows The three little palettes I have are “730 Skinlights”, “715 Precious Metals”, and “701 Wild Orchids”. I loved these when I first got them but for some reason I had stopped using them for a while. I fell in love with them all over again last month and bought a new one, “Skinlights”. They’re so easy to use! You can wear them alone or with matte shadows which is what I’ve been doing. “Skinlights” is my favorite out of the three. The shades in it create the perfect neutral, everyday looks!Revlon, Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadows, Wild Orchids, Skinlights, Precious Metals
  2. Colour Pop Ultra Satin Lip I bought two of these not too long ago, but this one has been my go-to over the summer. The name of the shade is “Frick N Frack”, it’s a nude color. I have been loving it! It’s not too much, but just enough…perfect for everyday. Pair it with the right liner and you’re good to go.
  3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit “Sun Dipped” I am OBSESSED with this, especially the shades “Bronzed” and “Tourmaline”! I could be wearing hardly any makeup and I’ll still reach for this highlighting palette. LOVE IT!
  4. Too Faced Primed Poreless Pure Oil Free Primer I’ve had this for a while and have used it here and there. I picked up another one and started using it regularly last month. It’s truly one of the best primers I’ve used. It’s oil free and for sensitive skin which is great for me. It’s lightweight and all of my foundations go on so smoothly over it. Too Faced Cosmetics, Primed Poreless Pure, Primer
  5. Black Radiance True Complexion Contour Palette in “Light to Medium” I bought this a few months back when I was getting more into highlighting and contouring. It was one of my bargain buys. It’s geared more towards women of color, I mean that’s the company’s thing but honestly anyone can use it(or any of their products).I’ve mainly just been using the contouring and sculpting shades. I’ve only used the highlight once. It’s easy to use and blends out very well.
  6. Benefit Cosmetics Triple Performing Facial Emulsion I bought this at Ulta over the summer because I needed a light moisturizer with sunscreen that I could wear on the beach and not end up looking like a grease ball. It’s oil free of course and it has SPF 15. It does well under makeup and I’ve found it to be a really good moisturizer. I love the light, fresh scent. I’m currently not using it but it was definitely my go-to moisturizer over the summer.
  7. Cargo Cosmetics Swimmables Eyeliner Pencil I received this in the August Allure beauty box and it’s the only eyeliner I’ve been wearing since. It glides on so easily and it’s easy to smudge it out if you want to. I love it so much that I’m going to purchase another from the Cargo Cosmetics website! I’m so glad it was in my Allure box, precisely why I love beauty subscriptions!
  8. Becca Cosmetics Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector I’ve never purchased any Becca products before but I wanted to try something different. This primer is life!! You only need a very small amount and you just pat it onto the areas where you really need it, like the T-Zone. This stuff is amazing! It lasts all day, no touch ups needed. I wear it everyday, with or without makeup. This is something else I’ll be repurchasing and soon because I’m almost out.

So that’s all my favorites from July and August. I’ve already got a few favorites and must-haves for this month that I can’t wait to share!

Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation

I am obsessed with the Urban Decay waterproof, liquid foundation!! It came out a few months ago, maybe 2 or 3…I’m not sure but I first saw it on the snapchat of my favorite YouTuber, Nicole Guerriero. I waited a little bit before buying it because I wasn’t in desperate need of a new foundation and I wanted to see more reviews. Finally convinced that it would be perfect for me, I went ahead and picked it up about two weeks ago. Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation, Urban Decay

A little about it….it’s waterproof, longwear, full coverage, matte finish and oil free. I had a bit of trouble finding the right shade even though the girls at Sephora did a color match. I always have them do that before buying any foundation. I had to return the product twice and finally got the right shade on the third try. I was told the reason for that is because this foundation takes a little longer to dry and then oxidizes. So the correct shade for me is 6.5. The one before that was 7.0 and the first one I had was 7.75 which ended up being really orange. Because of my experience, my advice is for you to try it on first and wait for it to dry completely before choosing your shade. I mean, you can walk around Sephora/Ulta in the mean time looking at all the other things you want to try out and buy…can’t go wrong there lol!

This foundation is already a favorite for me. I wore it for the first time this past weekend and it’s amazing! It seriously lasted from around 9:30am to 1:00am(Yes I was hanging out, lol)! I got caught in the rain Friday night down in NC and it didn’t budge! I absolutely love it! The price is $40 and totally worth it for me. I will definitely be repurchasing.

Thanks for reading, Melyssa

My Last Lip Monthly Bag: August

Hey guys, I know I’m late with this but I just got back from a mini-vacation and this is the first chance I’ve had to post. As some of you know I’ve been trying out different beauty subscriptions lately and Lip Monthly was one of them. I’m also currently a Lip Monthly affiliate so if you go back to my previous posts you’ll see their links/banners somewhere on the page. Last month I made the decision to end my subscription and affiliation with them. I’m just really not happy with the lip products they’ve been sending me. There’s only been a couple that I’ll actually use. A lot of the stuff they’ve sent me don’t match my skin tone at all and I end up giving most of it away. So, I’d much rather spend my time and or money receiving products and promoting for a company that I’m actually satisfied with.

The monthly subscription isn’t expensive at all and they always have discounts and promos going so you can get a certain amount of money off of your first bag, but I wouldn’t mind spending a few extra dollars on a subscription that I actually loved.

So I’ll show you what was in the August bag. I realize that just because I’m not happy with the subscription doesn’t mean other people aren’t or won’t be, but I will not be including a link/banner in this post. The banners in my previous Lip Monthly posts are currently still active and some of them I think offer discounts if you want to go back and check them out.

  1. Seraphine Lip/Cheek Gel-$20 This stuff didn’t work well on my lips but it seems like it might be good to use as a cheek stain. It’s way to red for me to use on my cheeks though.
  2. Hikari Cosmetics Dual Color Stick-$15 This is another lip/cheek combo. Not at all my shade, but I will  say that it goes on velvety smooth and blends very well.
  3. Manna Kadar Lip Crayon-$24 I might actually wear this one. It’s a very nice nude/neutral shade that goes well with my complexion. It says “LipLocked Priming Lip Wand” so I guess it’s some kind of primer as well.
  4. Lord & Berry Lip Liner-$10 I’m probably going to use this also. I love the color and I feel like it will go well with the Manna Kadar Lip Crayon. I have several other lipsticks that it will pair well with. It’s super pigmented and has a very easy and creamy application.

That’s it for the August Lip Monthly bag, my final one. If you’ve tried Lip Monthly , what are your thoughts? I’d love to know. Thanks for stopping by!
