August Essence Beauty Box

I got my Essence beauty box for this month a few days ago. Here’s what was inside…

  1. 1. Sweetspot Labs on-the-go wipettes in three different scents: Grapefruit Verbena, Neroli Mandarin, and Vanilla Blossom. These are 98% natural, gynecologist recommended and ph balanced. They can also be used for your whole body.SweetSpot, on-the-go wipette, Essence Beauty Box, August Essence Beauty Box

  3. Skin&Co Roma Umbrian Truffle Hand Cream & Citrus Amaro Hand Cream The Umbrian Truffle Hand Cream is ultra smoothing and formulated with natural apricot oil and black winter truffle and fig. The Citrus Amaro Hand Cream has avocado oil, sicilian orange and lavender.
  4. Eden Bodyworks Coconut Shea Cowash This cowash is sulfate-free, sud free and provides gentle cleansing to remove build up and residue between washings.Eden Bodyworks, Coconut Shea Cowash, Natural Hair Care Products, Essence Beauty Box, August Essence Beauty Box, Natural Hair Products
  5. Nudestix Pencils For eyes, lips and face, this pencil contains vitamins, antioxidants and moisturizers. Creates a quick and easy fresh-faced nude look.

I’m loving everything in this box although I gave the Eden Bodyworks cowash to my oldest son and I’ll be using the Camille Rose Detangling treatment for my youngest son because the only thing I use for my hair is Deva Curl. So, initially I was just trying out different beauty boxes to see which ones I would like…I actually have a new one on the way now. I’ll definitely be keeping my subscription to the Essence Beauty Box. By the way, there’s also 10% off using code NS10ESSENCE, redeem at NUBIANSKIN.COM/US before 9/30/16.

Thanks for stopping by!

Milani “Prime Shield” Primer Review

I love Milani products so when I saw on their website that they had this particular primer, I grabbed my keys right then and went into CVS to buy it! I couldn’t be bothered with the process of ordering online and then waiting. You guys know by now that if there’s something that claims to be mattifying, able to control oil and reduce shine, I’m on it. I was so excited and just knew I was going to love it. WRONG. For those of you haven’t heard about it or just haven’t tried it, let me give you a little break down..

  • Mattifying + Pore Minimizing
  • Oil Free
  • Primes skin to create a smooth canvas before applying any foundation
  • Mattifies and perfects the skin
  • Instantly minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines
  • Lightweight, non-greasy feel
  • Does not clog pores

That’s their exact description, straight from the front and back of the tube. My friends, it didn’t hold up to any of that for me. I’ve worn it several times to give it a fair shot. I’ve worn it under liquid and powder foundation. It is not mattifying, in fact my skin ended up being slightly oily before I even put foundation on. It didn’t minimize the appearance of my pores and fine lines. It absolutely is not non-greasy, it is in fact very greasy. Based on everything else I’m not inclined to believe that it won’t clog pores. For $9.99 this was a huge disappointment. Those of you who have tried it, I’d love to know your thoughts.

Checking in

Hey guys! I hope you all are doing well, everyone has probably got big plans for summer! I just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that I might not be posting for a little bit. We recently purchased a house and the construction should be completed by the end of next month. Right now we’re in the process of packing and realtors are already coming by here with prospective tenants so there are people coming in and out, walking around and asking questions all day while I’m trying to pack. And we have people coming to clean the carpets and paint the walls….it’s just crazy around here right now. I’ve still been shopping, buying makeup and other beauty products…although most of my shopping recently has been online. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know what’s going on and I’ll be back as soon as I can. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer and congratulations to all the graduates!!

Beauty Bakerie Makeup

I’m back with products from a new brand, new to me anyway…Beauty Bakerie. I came across this company at the beginning of May on instagram and I placed my order the same day! Beauty Bakerie is a cruelty and smudge free brand. They sell Lip Whips which are liquid matte lipsticks, long wearing eye brow gels call Brownies, Eyescream cream eyeshadows, Gelato which is their gel eyeliner, a Sugar Lip Scrub and the Lip Whip remover.

The first thing that caught my eye were the lip whips. They currently have 18 gorgeous shades. They’re so pretty but what actually got me was a video they posted showing that these really are smudge free and waterproof. The staying power is ridiculous!! I bought “Cranberry Stiletto” and “Versailles”. I love them! My only complaint is that they are extremely drying. I have to add some kind of lip moisturizer several times throughout the day, which isn’t really an issue for me because I usually apply chapstick/lip balm often anyway. But, it’s absolutely necessary with these lipsticks. I’ve worn both shades several times this month and I have to say, they absolutely do not smudge or fade even after eating and drinking. All the colors are beautiful and the color pay off is amazing. I definitely need to go ahead and get the Lip Whip Remover because I almost scrubbed my lips off my face trying to get this lipstick off, no joke!

I purchased two of the cream eyeshadows, “Frosted Plums” and “Fudge it All”. There’s also a video on the company’s instagram showing how these hold up under soap & water. There are 11 colors. These are going to be my new favorite eyeshadows! I haven’t worn them yet but I swatched them and they go on so smooth and creamy. They’re super pigmented, I swear I’m already in love!

Beauty Bakerie, Sugar Lip Scrub

Sugar Lip Scrub

The last thing I got was the Sugar Lip Scrub. I really like this stuff because it’s an exfoliator and a moisturizer. After exfoliating your lips you just add a small amount to re-hydrate and moisturize. I’ve been using this on my son as well because his lips are always dry and peeling no matter what we use, but this product has really been working. I plan on purchasing the Eyebrow Gel, and more Lip Whips.

Go ahead and check them out on instagram @beautybakeriemakeup

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick, NYX Ombre Lip Duo, Shea Moisture Butter Lip Crayon, Too Faced Melted Liquified Longwear Lipstick, ColourPop Lippie Stix

My current favorite lipsticks/lippies

Lipstick is my favorite part of makeup! I’m obsessed. I buy more lipstick than anything else. So, I decided to put together my absolute favorites and share.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick

I love this lipstick! It goes on creamy and dries to matte perfection very quickly. The color I have is “Pure Hollywood”. I usually mix it with another color, or use it as the lighter color when doing an ombre lip because it is really light on me. It’s very pigmented, non drying and long-lasting. Once it’s dry, it doesn’t transfer. They cost around $20 and worth every penny!

ColourPop Matte Lippie Stix

I jumped on the ColourPop bandwagon over the summer and I am in love with these lippie stix!! All the colors are gorgeous! I have “Nevermind”, “Silk”, and “Creature”. They’re very pigmented and non-drying. I go pretty much all day without having to reapply.  The cost is around $5.00 so I highly recommend adding these to your collection.

Shea Moisture Butter Lip Crayon

I just love Shea Moisture Products! They have the best stuff…hair products, body lotion, oils and soaps! When I found out that they had makeup too, I was all over it. Their products are sold in Target which is another plus for me, although I couldn’t find these lip crayons in the target near me. I ordered “Sonia” off the Shea Moisture website. It isn’t nearly as dark as it looks but the color is still very pretty. It goes on smoothly, and doesn’t cake up or feather. You can order them for $9.99 off the website or check your local Target.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

This is another one I think you should definitely pick up. This stuff lives up to it’s name…it is everlasting. I swear it doesn’t budge! It lasts ALL day through eating, drinking and even a kiss here and there. My shade is “Double Dare”. The color payoff is amazing. My only issue is that it’s a little drying. Nothing a good lip balm or lipmask beforehand can’t fix though. They cost around $20 and are absolutely worth it.

Too Faced Melted Liquid Longwear Lipstick

Sometimes I like to take a break from matte lips and switch it up. This particular lipstick is great if you’re going for a high gloss look. I picked up “Melted Ruby”. The color is really rich, very pigmented. It lasts for about two hours then it looks more like a lipstain. You have to be very careful with it because it can be very messy even with the sponge tip applicator. I recommend using a brush instead of applying it straight from the tube. I really like it but the only thing I don’t like honestly, is the price. I don’t know, I just feel like it should be a little cheaper. Yes, it’s on my list of favorites but it’s not the best thing in the world. I just really like how pigmented it is and the fact that it smells good(I love lipsticks that smell good).

NYX Ombre Lip Duo

I picked this up in Target for close to $12. They come in 12 shades, I grabbed “Cinnamon & Spice”. The liner and matte lipstick are at either end and both ends twist up and down. I’ve found that the liner lasts longer than the lipstick. After about 2 hours I have to reapply the lipstick but the finish and color combination are so pretty so that won’t deter me from buying it again. It’s so easy to create the perfect ombre lip with this lippie.

“Cinnamon & Spice”

That’s it for now, I plan on doing some shopping tomorrow. I’ve got so many things on my “to get” list…maybe I’ll do a collective haul, we’ll see!

Products Review

e.l.f. cosmetics

Hey guys, I’m back with a review of a few things from e.l.f.. It seems like every time I go to Target I come out with 4 or 5 of their products. So, let’s get into it!

First is their High Definition Under Eye Setting Powder…I have no issues with this stuff. It does what it’s supposed to do. I use it sometimes to set my concealer but it can be used alone. I’ve only purchased it once but, I’d buy it again.

Next is their eyebrow kit. I switch between this and the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow palette, but I’ve been using this one forever and it’s the one I use most often. You use the wax to fill in and shape your brows and then use the setting powder after. It comes with the little brush inside but it’s really tiny so I just use my own. They have 3 shades…dark, medium and ash. I use medium and I always buy two at a time because I go through them so fast…speaking of which, it’s about time for me to repurchase. It’s really a great product, especially if you’re on a budget or just starting out with makeup and you don’t want to jump right into buying the more expensive brands just yet.

e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit

What I’m loving most right now is their Beautifully Bare Blush. It’s so beautiful and I love the cream to powder formula. It’s really lightweight on your skin, natural looking and it is buildable. It comes in 2 colors…Rose Royalty and Peach Perfection. I have Peach pretty!

Next on the list is their Matte Lip Color/Jumbo Lip Pencil…what I like about this is that it’s not at all drying like some matte lipsticks. It goes on very smoothly. I have the shade Rich Red. They come in 15 shades. It comes with a sharpener at the base which I’ve never had to use since it twists up and down, but it’s a nice touch. My only issue is that it doesn’t last very long. It wears off quickly and ends up looking more like a lip stain instead, which is still very pretty. I just use a little setting powder on my lips before I apply it and that makes a huge difference in how long it lasts. It’s does pretty good for the price, I’d definitely buy it again.

The next two lipsticks I bought were the Moisturizing Lipsticks in the shades Black Berry and Bordeaux Beauty. I actually ordered them off of the e.l.f. website…I haven’t been able to find them in Target, at least not the Target near me. It’s a really light formula, you can’t even tell you have anything on your lips. They’re not drying but I wouldn’t say they’re moisturizing either. Like the matte jumbo lip pencil, they don’t last very long. Again, I just use setting powder beforehand.

I also have the Lip Exfoliator. This is the only exfoliator I’ve ever used for my lips. It contains vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oils. I have no complaints about it, it does what it’s supposed to do. Fun fact: occasionally some of it gets in my mouth and it tastes like brown sugar…so there’s that lol! As you can see, I need a new one!

e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator

Last up is the anti-bacterial daily brush cleaner. It’s great for cleaning your brushes in between uses. This is another product I’ve been using for the longest time. Oh, and it smells good lol!

e.l.f. Daily Brush Cleaner

Ok, that’s everything! I hope you saw something you liked. If you guys have any favorites from e.l.f. let me know so I can check them out too!! Thanks for reading!
