Hey guys! I haven’t been posting much because I’ve been busy with school and the new house, so I have large stashes of makeup and beauty products sitting around, But, I’m getting to it…starting now with my August allure beauty box. I really like this subscription box so I won’t be cancelling it. I just finished using some of the products from last month so I’ll be doing a review…soon lol! Ok, so let’s get into it….
The first thing I grabbed from the box was the Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner. I see their products every time I go into target and I’ve seen a lot of youtubers use and review their stuff. One of my favorite Youtubers, The1nonlymaria LOVES Pixi. So this is an alcohol free toner that exfoliates and brightens the skin. It contains glycolic acid, aloe and witch hazel. The glycolic acid has been partially neutralized by ammonium hydroxide so it doesn’t irritate the skin. The price is $15 for 3.4 ounces. A coupon for $2 off a Pixi purchase of $10 or more at Target was included.
The next thing they included was the Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50. I’ve never heard of this product or brand before. It’s a mattyifying setting spray. It contains Averobenzone, homosalate, octinoxate, and octisalate which are sunscreens, silica silyate which controls oil and rosemary oil. If you have dry skin it says that this may be too chalky because it’s a slightly thick liquid and leaves a little film for the first hour or so but it does disappear. It’s supposed be good for protection against incidental sunlight and short exposures. The price is $28. I’m not too sure about this one so we’ll see.
Next up is the Freeze 24-7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum. It’s a line smoothing cream that moisturizes and tightens the eye area temporarily. It contains glycerin and panthenol which moisturize, aloe vera for inflammation and amino butyric acid which temporarily relaxes muscles. It says that it is a thin white lotion that dries to a powdery finish and has no scent. The price is $115. It seems like an interesting product, I’m anxious to try it but I don’t know about that price though y’all.
Also in the box was another pur-lisse Blue Lotus Balancing Moisturizer. I received some type of pur-lisse product in last month’s Essence box that I wasn’t interested in because it wasn’t good for oily skin. This one is a light weight lotion that hydrates normal, dry or sensitive skin. The ingredients are algae, white tea and blue lotus extracts which are antioxidants and glycerin and stearic acid for moisturizing. It’s a milky, thin formula that applies like gel. It’s supposed to work well under makeup. The price is $55. Like with the last Pur-Lisse product I received, I think I’ll pass.
I also received a Cargo Cosmetics Swimmable Eye Pencil in the shade 02 Pebble Beach. I’ve never heard of this brand either, which is what makes beauty box subscriptions so much fun…you discover new things! This eyeliner is water-resistant, soft tipped and glides on easily. The color is a deep brown-black. The price is $18. I feel like I’m going to like this one.
The last thing I received is the Wet Brush Midi brush*. It’s a cushion brush with long, flexible bristles. It claims to be good for untangling knots without snagging, even on thick waves and curls and can be used on wet hair. So, for myself…I don’t brush my curly hair. That’s a no-no for a lot of curly girls. We finger detangle in the shower and those who do use brushes don’t use this particular type. So, I’ll be giving this away. The price is $8.99.
That’s it for now, I hoped you’ve enjoyed and maybe saw something that you might be interested in trying.
